Update September 19

Posted by GO Waihi on 19/09/2018

First comes the Spring Equinox, this Sunday, when spring for real gets underway. I hope the hayfever’s behaving. And the countdown to Daylight Saving returning is definitely on. Next Sunday 30 September either set your alarm for 2 am and wind your clocks and watch forward or make it easy on yourself and do the job the night before. We’re just a week away from the school holidays with a few things lined up across October again for everyone to enjoy so keep an eye on our website for the Goldfest programme.

GOING OVER THE TOP SATURDAY WITH RUN AND FUN
Waihi Beach School has a great day sorted with their Over the Top Fun Run based at Brighton Park. There’s a 3 km, 6 km and 10 km walk, run or hike depending on what you’d like to achieve and if you’re not taking part then head along for food and refreshments, entertainment, a bouncy castle and cheer on participants as they reach the finish line. Starting at 9 am it’s all go through to early afternoon, raising funds for the school while having a cool community event. For entry forms and details head to the school or www.tridentresults.com.

GOLDFEST PROGRAMME FOR ADULTS AND CHILDREN
We’re just over a week away from Goldfest with GO Waihi and OceanaGold starting during the school holidays with a number of things happening for the school students … and adults too of course. We’re just sorting out some details with what Waihi Bluelight and Waihi Sport N Action have planned and we’ll get the programme sorted and out there. From Art Waikino to a Vegetarian Festival, I think we’ll have something to suit most tastes, like go Waihi’s Guess the Number of Crunchie Bars Competition with New World Waihi, details are below.

GUESS THE NUMBER OF CRUNCHIE BARS COMPETITION IS BACK!!
GO Waihi loves this one, and so do kids and parents, grandparents and caregivers. It’s simple really, during the school holidays walk the CBD and count the Crunchie Bars in all the shop windows. There’ll be lists of the shops taking part in shop windows in each block through town and also on the web once we get underway. Up for grabs are New World Waihi $100, $75 and $50 vouchers for the three closest entries. Good luck.

TROMBONE, TRUMPET, FRENCH HORN, SAXOPHONE, FLUTE, STRINGS & THINGS
We’re talking Kerepehi Brass Band and Katikati Concert Band here and a show this Sunday at Waihi Salvation Army hall at the top of Seddon St. Start time for the concert’s 2 pm, a donation gets you through the door and foot tapping is allowed – quietly of course. Grab a friend and enjoy.

ENTER HERE FOR TROLLEY DERBY AND STALLS
Enter a trolley into the derby or grab a stall application form and be part of GO Waihi’s Trolley Derby and Market Day Saturday 6 October. The Trolley Derby with Waihi Lions and Waihi Beach Dirt Track Club’s free to enter and the stalls are as cheap as chips. Add to the flavour of the day, be part of the fun, blow some cobwebs away and maybe make a few dollars. Forms are at HDC’s Waihi office, Gold FM upstairs on the corner of Seddon and Haszard Streets Waihi and on our website or email us.
