Update October 27

Posted by Go Waihi on 27/10/2015

It was so good to get that extra day last weekend. There was just so much on, and getting some downtime in there as well was important too. So just in case we didn’t get everything done we wanted to, I think we should repeat the exercise this weekend, you with me? We’re about to head into November, and it won’t be long before we see the end of the school year, Christmas and another New Year! And this weekend will see the end of October’s Goldfest. Here are the last two events, and they’re good ones.

HALLOW SKATE NIGHT
Waihi Miners Inline Hockey club is hosting a special skate night this Friday with an open invitation. Halloween themed it’s a dress up affair if you want. Skates can be provided, take socks. It’s $5 inclusive and runs from 6 pm to 8 pm at Waihi Events Centre with spot prizes and even Halloween music.

STEAMPUNK SOIREE SATURDAY NIGHT
It’s the last on the Goldfest list and a great night has been planned for those keen to get along to the Rob Roy Hotel in Waihi Saturday night. Prepay tickets are at the Rob Roy for $45 which includes the band / DJ, light supper and venue, while the outfits are all up to you. Dressing up’s encouraged but not essential; it may even win you a prize. Get along for a good night with a difference.

B & B WORKSHOP WITH GO WAIHI
On Monday 9 November B & B owners and those looking at running something along these lines from around the Waihi district are invited to the Waihi Memorial Hall between 11 am and 1 pm where there’ll be presentations by the B & B Association, Hauraki District Council and Hauraki Rail Trail. It’s free and a good way to find out what’s involved in running something along these lines. Please register by contacting GO Waihi.

THE $1000 POT OF GOLD GOES TO ...
On Tuesday 10 November the Stop Shop and Win $1000 Pot of Gold with GO Waihi will be drawn. You can still get into the draw by shopping locally in Waihi at participating stores and putting your name and contact details into the box provided – that’s all you have to do! The more you shop up to and including 31 October – tomorrow, the more chances you have at winning.

CHRISTMAS PARADE COMING UP
GO Waihi’s Christmas parade with Harcourts Waihi is on Saturday 12 December. It’s always a lot of fun for everyone who takes part, aswell as all those watching from the street. Santa always looks forward to the day; in fact he and Mrs Claus were in Waihi recently checking roofs for landing and also enjoying a bit of shopping before the silly season really takes over. Be a part of the parade. Get a float entry form from the Hauraki District Council Service Centre and Library, at Gold FM or at www.waihi.org.nz and get your float sorted with people and decorations. There are some great prizes for winning floats – the most Christmassy, kiwi, fun, crazy, themed and who knows what else.

CHRISTMAS MARKET DAY STALLS
How would you like to have a stall at the GO Waihi Christmas Market Day and Parade? It’s always a fun day with lots of people of all ages heading into Waihi for a fun, entertaining day. Shops will have lots of specials and sales and it would be nice to fill gaps with stalls that have different stock to add to the flavour. Application forms are at the Hauraki District Council Service Centre and Library in Rosemont Rd and here on our website.

BOATS ON GILMOUR BUSY NEXT WEEKEND
Sunday 8 November will see lots of visiting boaties with their model boats converge on Gilmour Lake for a big get together. These boats are scale models and can range from 1 to 3 metres and even more in size. From steamships and yachts to warships and paddle boats they’re a real spectacle. Take a picnic and enjoy the day.

FOR WHAT’S ON & COMING UP GO TO ...
Locals and visitors alike, www.waihi.org.nz is a great starting place to find out what’s happening in and around the Waihi district.
