Update July 30

Posted by Go Waihi on 30/07/2013

Flip the calendar. A pinch and a nudge it’s another month and back to school after some terrific weather over the holidays. It’s great enjoying mild temperatures and just that little bit extra daylight at the end of the day. There are so many things to do outdoors around here, it’s good to see parks, the beach, walks and bike trails busy. Picnics, fresh air and our back yard rolled into one. Enjoy whether you’re visiting or have the pleasure of living here, we have a fantastic spot.

We’re just a couple of months away from Goldfest 2013 throughout October and starting to put the programme together. This is an opportunity to hold an event, a fundraiser or at a business. Let Go Waihi know about it. If it’s on in October it can be included in the programme. Whether it’s for kids or adults get in touch and let’s put it in the mix. And remember to support these events so we get more of them in the future. That seems logical eh? Email us or call 863 3030, but please don’t leave it to the last minute.

The name of the game is the Aims Games. Got a ‘never get around to it’ job to be done? Contact Brent Willoughby at Waihi College and he can arrange some Year 7 and 8 students to get it sorted. They’re after not so odd jobs they can do to raise funds to get to the Aims Games in Tauranga to compete against almost 200 schools from New Zealand and Australia. Well they won’t play all of them but you know what I mean. Lawns, wood stacked, windows cleaned, spring cleaning a speciality. The number’s 863 8349, and thanks.

Waihi Community Resource Centre has an interesting workshop coming up on August 5 and 12 from 6.30 pm to 8 pm. The $10 Mixed Media and Decoupage Art Workshop includes a demonstration of techniques and materials and the use of all the materials. You even get to take home your unique creation!! To book call in to the WCRC in Mueller St or call 863 7555.

Go Waihi has the August Business After 5 Meeting next Wednesday. Waihi business owners and managers are invited to register to go to Baker Construction. We’ll catch up with new owners Graham and Judy and some of the team, have a look around and we’re hoping to have the Labour Department along with an update on some new laws that have just come into effect. It’ll also be a good chance to catch up again as another month slips by. RSVP to Go Waihi or 863 3030 thanks.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: You only have a problem if you think you have a problem.
