Update - October 19

Posted by Go Waihi on 19/10/2012

Finally it’s here, the loooong weeeekend of course. We’ve got plenty on during Goldfest around the district to keep you busy, from an art exhibition to a big gold dig at the beach. Roads will be hectic so take your time, enjoy the trip, keep your wits about you and hopefully you’ll come back refreshed and relaxed.

Then we’re heading into November, and Christmas will sneak up on us as usual. So why not take some time now and take advantage of the sales and specials and do some shopping and get ahead. Will we get the first swim of the season in? Will the BBQ get pulled out this weekend? How do I fit all the work into four days rather than five? Well that one can wait! Let’s check out some of the things coming up you can enjoy.

GOLDFEST OVER THE LONG WEEKEND
There’s no shortage of things on, with something for the young and young at heart. Tonight Art Waikino has their opening wine and cheese event for their twelfth annual Art Competition and Exhibition at Victoria Hall. It’s $10 a ticket and you’ll enjoy the announcing of the winners as well as music with Shona Laing and Wella Tasma.

On Sunday between 11.30 am and 1.30 pm the leader and vice leader of the Tainan Traditional Orchestra, who have flown from Taiwan to perform, will be playing the flute and an Er Hu, a traditional Chinese two stringed instrument. This has been arranged by the International Academy in Golden Valley and will be very entertaining while you enjoy the art on display.
