Update - July 27

And you’re off on the short or long course with The Blast Duathlon this Sunday. Entry forms with details are at the Events Centre, around town or you can download an entry form. Coulda, shoulda, woulda can become ‘been there done that’ with one simple entry. Solo or as a team, challenge yourself and support our local event. Good luck.

Sunday August 7th. 10 am for registrations. 10.30 am and in you go. 10.31 am and out you come I’d say. Waihi Beach Surf Life Saving Club invites you to take part in their annual mid winter swim in front of the surf club. If you’re too chicken to take the plunge turn up and support the (fool)hardy folk giving it a go. There’ll be food and refreshments available and money raised goes to the club.

We’re trying to spread things out through October as activities and events come in, so if you’re looking at hosting something let me know the basics now and we can lock that date in. Trolley Derby entry forms will be out soon as we get set for our Market Day and Trolley Derby on Saturday October 8th.

Waihi’s Got Talent has a good mix of performances lined up at the Waihi Beach Memorial RSA through August with the finals night on Friday September 2nd. Solo, duos or as a group, if you go to school in the Waihi district and can sing, dance or play an instrument, get an entry form from your school office or the Beach RSA and enter. Junior, intermediate and senior category winners will get $1000 for a school project and $200 vouchers for themselves. Wow!

We’re in the swim for August, well almost anyway, as we head to Waihi Beach Surf Life Saving Club next Wednesday the 3rd. There have been some major developments and alterations and we’ll get to see them first hand. We’ll also hear from Chris Hale, the Economic Development Officer for Hauraki District Council, about how the region’s doing in these economic times, and we’ll have an update on Goldfest for you as well. If you own or manage a business in the district please let us know if you can (or can’t) make it.
