TALENT GALORE
Waihi’s Got Talent with the Waihi Beach Memorial RSA is open to any children schooled in the Waihi district. Junior, intermediate and senior winners will win $1000 each for a school project and a $200 voucher for themselves. There’ll be singing, dancing, playing of instruments, mime and comedy acts by groups and individuals. Get an entry form from your school office. Junior heats are on Friday 19th, intermediate heats Friday 26th, with seniors and finals on Friday September 2nd.

TROLLEY DERBY ENTRIES
It’s time to ‘get the wheels turning’ on your trolley for our derby day on October 8th. Businesses and individuals, I challenge you to take to Haszard St from 12.30 pm and run the course in the fastest time. Actually, worries about the time, just enter and have some fun. Entry forms will be out very soon. Right now it’s time to build your trolley, or tweek, tinker and test run the one you’ve got.

FLAGS FLAPPING
As the RWC approaches we have strings of flags available for businesses and individuals that feature all the competing teams, in their pools. Each flag’s about A5 size, 49 flags in all and the string’s 10 metres long. Go Waihi is selling them for just $22, cash - receipts available, but there’s only a short time to order. If you’d like a set or more, get in touch with Go Waihi by Friday 12th August. They’ll look fantastic all around Waihi over the next couple of months.

DON’T STALL
Again this year we’re limiting the number of stalls so shops can promote their sales and specials at our Market Day for Goldfest on Saturday October 8th, so if you’d like a stall, please get in touch.

READY OR NOT
Contact Con Kiernan at con@diconpartners.co.nz for details and entry forms for the new Contemporary Mosaic Art category for the Art Waikino Exhibition over Labour weekend. Entries close this Friday. Good luck.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: A bird in the hand is the best way to eat chicken.
