Update - August 15

Posted by Go Waihi on 15/08/2011

Another week of winter behind us, and lots of colds and flu still with us. It’s surprising where these bugs get spread. Shopping trolley handles, door handles, shaking hands and I just remembered the shared mouse on the computer. I have to say it’s nice to see a little more daylight, and at both ends of the day too.

There’s not much time to get your flags of all the competing teams in the upcoming rugby tourney around the country. A 10 metre length of 49 flags would look great around your business or home, in the trees or maybe along your deck, and they’ll make a great collectable too. About half the size of an A4 page, a set is just $22 cash with a receipt. Contact us at Go Waihi ASAP. The Waihi region’s going to look great with all these flags flapping.

The rehearsals are all but over for the juniors in Waihi’s Got Talent at Waihi Beach Memorial RSA supported by Go Waihi. Around 20 acts take to the stage Friday 19th August with dancing, mime, singing, playing musical instruments all on the programme. Intermediate heats are Friday 26th August, with the seniors and finals on Friday September 2nd. You’re invited, so why not see just how much talent Waihi school pupils have. There’s just a little time for seniors to enter.

The ‘stop taking bookings red light’ is on for the Waihi Police Blue Light Show Us Your Cash Quiz Night on Friday August 26th. If you haven’t booked a team get in touch with the Waihi Police, just in case of a cancellation. Or you could ask if there’s a team that you could join. 17 teams are entered and studying hard for the quiz, NOT. Fun and a fundraiser is what the night’s all about. Wonder if there’ll be multichoice!

These and a trolley and you’re virtually ready for the Annual Go Waihi Trolley Derby on Saturday October 8th. Hang on, you’d better get an entry form and fill it in, then you’re just about ready.
Entry forms are available at the HDC office in Seddon St, Waihi Library, Gold FM.

Sunday morning the Waihi Rotary Car Boot Sale’s on, weather permitting, at the Waihi Memorial RSA car park. 8.30 am and it’s all on, and soon off the trestles and boots as sales are made. $6 on the day for a spot. Worth checking out.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: You can observe a lot just by watching.
