    What a difference a week makes. Maybe not to the weather but more the fact school’s about to start again, Labour Weekend is next weekend, and we’ve had the full moon already so planting vegetable seeds is all go, now that any frosts should be behind us.     Hey, we’ve made it. Finally after four and a half months we’ve got ourselves a three day weekend. We’ve got a beautiful piece of paradise with plenty on, and lots of visitors too.     We’re just about at the end of another month, and 2018 is looming up pretty quickly. With Labour Weekend behind us we now focus on those long weekends through Christmas and New Year, well I do. It’ll sneak up quickly too.   • Rainbow Arrival Celebration

    It’s update three for the Rainbow Welcome event at Victoria (Rocket) Park. We’ve tried twice and haven’t got the weather to coincide so let’s make a plan for Saturday 25 November.     Open to everyone, including professionals who work with older people, this is a chance to hear about financial safety, cyber safety and legal things with Waihi Community Resource Centre. There’s safety in the home, elder abuse, and support and services available regarding dementia. Morning tea and a chance to chat to the experts are included and it’s free.     Here we are in the second half of November! I’ve got the shorts out, and the board shorts … I’m just waiting for the temperature to catch up. OK, so the lily whites have been out a couple of times, but there’s still a degree or three to go, and hey, I’m not the only one with shorts and a warm hoody handy!     Well, this time next month Santa will be frantically getting sorted for his worldwide trip bearing gifts … for good children at least. Yes, Christmas Eve comes just after the longest day.
