  • Waikino's Village Market and Garage Sale

    From 9 am there’ll be fresh produce and plants for sale, and loads to check out. Bric a brac and china alongside clothes and shoes, furniture and old tools will fill Victoria Hall, along SH2 in Waikino. Funds raised go to the upkeep of the hall. There’s a good start to your day. Read more »

  • Waihi Beach Dirt Track

    Sunday sees the Waihi Beach Dirt Track Club hold their first meet of the year. It’s their Points Day so the drivers will be hell-bent on adding more points to their tally with some hair-raising action from 11 am across the afternoon at their track next to the quarry halfway down the gorge on Waihi Beach Rd. $4 and you’re in with under 12’s free.     It’s great to see so many people enjoying the great outdoors, even if the weather has been a little ‘iffy’ across the first part of summer. Beaches are the destination for many, and bush walks have been popular too.     It’s Waitangi Day on Monday with another long weekend. I hope it gets celebrated the way it should be. It’s unique to New Zealand and an integral part of our history.
