Events » Waihi’s Warm Up Party for Beach Hop
There‘s nothing like a good party, and that’s the plan this Wednesday March 21st with Waihi’s Warm Up Party for Beach Hop. GO Waihi, in association with OceanaGold and Alton Drilling have a great day organised, and while it’s fantastic for hot rod and classic car lovers, there’s something for everyone else too. We’ll break it down a bit below, but as an overview, there are rock n roll bands, best-dressed competitions, the Gold FM Drag Race, shops and stalls with all sorts for sale and cafes, eateries and restaurants catering for all tastes. Add 500 to 600 hot rods and classic cars arriving around 10.30 am and parking through downtown Waihi for the day and you’re starting to get the picture. And it’s free, all day long!
PICTURE THIS – WINNING A PANASONIC 49” FLAT SCREEN LED TV
Focus, zoom, click, choose and send. That’s the plan if you want to win this fantastic prize with GO Waihi’s Snapshot Photo Competition of our Warm Up Party. You must be an amateur photographer and the judges’ decision is final. No other rules really, just make sure you get something that relates to Waihi in the photo this Wednesday. Send entries to email@example.com (one pic per email), drop them off at Gold FM upstairs at 17 Haszard St Waihi or post your photos on a disc or memory stick to PO Box 34, Waihi 3641. BEST DRESSED COMPETITION: WIN GREAT PRIZES
Dress for the occasion this Wednesday, men could win a great meal voucher from Waitete Restaurant, Café and Ice Creamery, ladies a beautiful Guess watch from Diamonds On Seddon and sunglasses for the boys and girls courtesy of Clarks Pharmacy. Enter at Waihi Beach Hop Central next to the Waihi Memorial Hall. Prize giving is at 2.15 pm in front of the hall. And you can rock your socks off with the bands pumping out the sounds all through town across the day.
RUN, HOOLA HOOP, RUN, PASS A BATON AND … SMILE FOR THE CAMERAS
There’s no secret how we get the best from the boys with the Gold FM infamous Drag Race. This Wednesday at 12.30 pm they’re off - and hopefully being put back on – and racing up and down Seddon St in teams of three, and whether they win or not every entrant gets a prize. Not to mention the notoriety of being able to add this significant event to their CV. Enter with gusto, forms are at Waihi’s HDC Service Centre and Library in Rosemont Rd, at Gold FM upstairs on the corner of Seddon and Haszard streets and online at www.waihi.org.nz. Great for your business profile, or your school, club or bunch of friends willing to take on the Te Kawa Titty Pullers and Te Awamutu Dairy Queens. The gaudier the outfit the better and don’t forget a handbag, it’s your baton. And remember to say ‘cheesy weesy’ when the cameras roll!
