- Gold Panning Days and Family Mine Tours with Newmont Waihi Gold - Both these are $2 donation towards Presbyterian Church Community Christmas Dinner and Salvation Army Foodbank.
- New Zealand Herpetological Society Gecko Display, including a local variety.

- Best Dressed Window Competition, the theme is 'Gold'.
- Count the Cadbury Crunchie Bars Competition throughout town is on. This is sponsored by New World, with entries around town at participating stores.
- Major Prize for 'Stop , Shop and Win', Downtown Shopping Promotion is a 'Pot of Gold', a pot literally filled with 1,000 $1 coins.
- Pit Rim Walk Opening on the Sunday 12th.
