Goldfest is a big event with a wide range of activities primarily aimed at children and young adults and parents.  There will be a whole lot going on, so don't miss out on the fun...

  • Sport N Action Give It A Go Days with Basketball, Badminton, Volleyball, In Line Hockey and Surfing - $2.Inline
  • Gold Panning Days and Family Mine Tours with Newmont Waihi Gold -   Both these are $2 donation towards Presbyterian Church Community Christmas Dinner and Salvation Army Foodbank.Gold Panning
  • New Zealand Herpetological Society Gecko Display, including a local variety. Gecko Display
  • Goldfields Railway Train Trips to Waikino Railway Station.
  • Trolley Derby with Waihi Lions.Trolley Derby

  • Photo Competition, Gold as the theme - Free, with Barron's Kodak Photo Express.
  • Guess the Weight of the Golden Rock - Free, with The Art Market.
  • Best Dressed Window Competition, the theme is 'Gold'.
  • Count the Cadbury Crunchie Bars Competition throughout town is on. This is sponsored by New World, with entries around town at participating stores.
  • Major Prize for 'Stop , Shop and Win', Downtown Shopping Promotion is a 'Pot of Gold', a pot literally filled with 1,000 $1 coins.
  • Pit Rim Walk Opening on the Sunday 12th.
  • 'Have A Go' Days at the Stirling tavern.
